HDR Print — a B2B print e-commerce

A full redesign of the online shop for a US large-format printing company — where B2B buyers order custom banners, adhesive, rigid signs and more.

The heart of it is a custom print constructor: pick a material, upload artwork, set size and finishing (lamination, contour cut, grommets) and see the price update live — then straight to cart and checkout.

01 — Context

Custom printing, sold online.

HDR Print is a large-format printing company based in New Jersey — high-quality, cost-effective custom posters, signs and banners. Its buyers are businesses that need bespoke prints fast, so the shop can't behave like a normal catalog: almost every order is configured, not just added to cart.

The redesign had to turn a complex, spec-heavy ordering process into something a busy B2B customer can complete in minutes.

02 — Challenge

A configurator that still feels simple.

Every product is a set of decisions — the UI has to carry that weight lightly.

01

Complex specs

Size, material, lamination, contour cut, grommets, wind slits — all per item.

02

Live pricing

Price has to react to every option so buyers trust what they'll pay.

03

Artwork handling

Users upload their own images and place them on the print with a preview.

04

B2B speed

Repeat buyers need a fast path from "configure" to "reorder" and checkout.

03 — Catalog

Browse by what you need to print.

The catalog is organized around print categories — banners, adhesive, rigid and misc — with clean, photo-led product cards so buyers can jump straight to the right kind of product before configuring it.

04 — Print constructor

The configurator does the heavy lifting.

This is the core of the product. Buyers upload artwork, set the print size, choose finishing — contour cut, color matching, lamination, grommets, pole pockets — add multiple items to one job, and watch the price update live. All the complexity of large-format printing, wrapped in a calm, guided interface.

05 — Cart & checkout

From configured job to paid order.

Configured items carry their full spec into a slide-over cart — material, size, finishing, quantity and price per line — with a clear total. The flow is fully responsive, so a buyer can configure and check out from a phone on a job site.

06 — Account & company

A home for repeat B2B buyers.

Beyond ordering, buyers get a profile with their orders and details, and the company gets storytelling pages — an "About / Our Team" that positions HDR Print as a trusted large-format partner.

07 — Outcome

Complex to order, simple to use.

A guided print constructor that turns dozens of options into a calm, step-by-step flow.

Live pricing that updates with every finishing choice, so buyers trust the total.

A spec-rich cart & checkout, fully responsive for on-site ordering.

A consistent, confident visual system across catalog, configurator and company pages.

Takeaway

Make the complexity disappear.

The design win for a B2B configurator isn't fewer options — it's sequencing them so the buyer always knows the next step and always sees the price.
